THANK YOU 2023 Readers!
A sincere and heartfelt THANKS to everyone who's subscribed and read this past year
Hi Friends!
I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for subscribing, following, and reading my Substack. It’s not easy being a writer these days (and even harder to build a following) so I’m so appreciative of all of your support. I don’t want to take any of it for granted.
Thank you especially to the paid subscribers, those patrons who put their money out to support art and writing in these delicate times. Expect a special gift sometime soon!
If there’s anything you’d like to hear more of, something that resonates with you, keeps you coming back, I’d love to hear it. Like George Saunders says, much of writing is trying to find those moments of “energy” that others relate to, and that’s how you build and find your audience, which is what I’m trying to do here.
This time of year is hard for me—a combination of the literal darkness, the Holidays (which I love, but always exacerbate the disconnect between the happiness outside and the feelings within), along with the regret of looking over the last year and wishing I was further along in my career or writing life. If this is you as well, know I am always here to talk or chat. All we have is each other after all.
And yet, I have to remember that a lot of good happened this past year as well. That’s one of the biggest mysteries of life to me. How so much good exists alongside such bad. And so I am incredibly grateful—to you, my wife, my daughters, my family, friends, co-workers, and readers for listening and reading.
Here’s to a Happy New Year in 2024. It might just be like last year, but it might be better! And that’s why we’re still going.
Love,
-Levi
“I have never wanted more, to be your man
And build a house around you
But I am just like all the rest of them
Sorry, selfish, trying to improve
I'm here, I'm here. Not heroic but I try.”
